Welcome back to shul!

Welcome back, everyone! We hope you enjoyed your summer. We sure enjoyed ours! The Men’s Club took a road trip to Cleveland to watch the Reds dominate the Indians. And, we tailgated with Agudas Achim men's club members at a Clippers game.
On July 27, we had our annual picnic at the JCC. The weather was perfect and the food wasn’t so bad either. We enjoyed burgers and dogs and had a highly competitive wiffleball game. We also introduced our officers: President, Dale Levy; Vice President, Bill Chronister; Treasurer, Matt Kennedy; and Secretary, Mike Sobul.
Thank you to everyone who participated and volunteered.

Sunday Morning Cafe/
Wednesday Morning Minyan
We look forward to bringing you a delightful nosh on Sunday mornings as you go to class, drop your children off for school or drop in to daven. Each Sunday morning that Hebrew School is in session, the Men’s Club Cafe will be open in the atrium. The menu includes bagels with toppings, orange juice, coffee and hot chocolate. Tables are set up in the atrium for people to sit at and enjoy their breakfast. We also provide breakfast after minyan on Wednesday mornings.

Did You Know. . .?
The Men’s Club joins other synagogues in our community and visits Jewish prisoners in jail. Recently, one of the inmates was diagnosed with stomach cancer and wanted a second opinion. The Men’s Club made a referral for him so he was able to see another physician and begin his treatment. If you are interested in participating in this mitzvah please contact us.

Looking to the Future
It’s not too soon to begin preparing for the High Holidays! Let us be among the first to wish you L’Shanah Tovah. Once again the Men’s Club will be co-sposoring the Synagogue’s Simchat Torah Dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 21. If you can volunteer at this event, please contact us. We will also be sponsoring the Neilah Candlelight (flashlights) March with our pre-B'nei Mitzvah kids.
Other events this year include the Chanukah Dinner, Men’s Club/Sisterhood Shabbat, the World Wide Wrap, and the Purim Carnival. We are also looking into a road trip to the Pro Football Hall Of Fame this fall. Please volunteer or join us in all these exciting events.

Join the Men’s Club
With so many exciting things going on you should be a part of it. Renew your membership. Current members will receive a renewal request via e-mail. Please renew as soon as possible, still only $36. Please renew by email, this saves us the cost of mailing out the renewal applications. You will also be able to join on-line using Paypal. If you are not yet a member and would like to join the Men’s Club please contact me at drlevy@ohioctvs.com, or print out the form below and sign up. If you bring in a new member, you will receive Men’s Club T-Shirts (donated by Larry Levine). The shirt says “Tifereth Israel Men’s Club” on the front and “IT’S A GUY THING” on the back. We are also selling them for $12. It is a bargain either way.

As Always, We are Glad to Be of Service.
Dale R. Levy
Men’s Club President

Look at these can't-miss Sunday brunches

The Men's Club is proud to present the lineup for its first three Sunday brunches this fall.
We'll kick off the year on Sept. 21, the first day of Hebrew school, with Ohio's first lady, Frances Strickland.
Mrs. Strickland will speak at 10:30 a.m., just after Hebrew school parents' orientation in the upper social hall. So if you're a parent, by all means stay for the talk -- and have a bagel and maybe a schmear while you're at it.
In October, we'll move up from the governor's wife to our very own synagogue president, Howard Schottenstein. Howard will speak on his plans during his tenure as our community's leader at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 12.
After the elections in November, we've asked Bill Cohen of NPR to come and present a recap and analysis. He'll speak at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 9.
As usual, the Sunday brunches are free to all who wish to attend, although donations are always welcome.
For further information, or to volunteer to help -- especially for the first brunch -- please contact Bill Chronister, wtchron@gmail.com; or Mike Sobul, lsobul@wowway.com.
